Cognosos Receives Additional Patents for Wireless Network Innovations
Patented technology extends battery life and limits signal disruption
ATLANTA – FEB. 28, 2017 – Cognosos, a supplier of managed IoT services for enterprise applications, has been granted a second U.S. patent (9,065,699) and a corresponding Chinese patent (CN 104981985 A) for “Methods and Systems for a Distributed Communications Network.”
Cognosos previously received a U.S. patent (9,065,699) for cloud-based signal processing that improves low-power wide-area (LPWA) network performance. The newer patents build upon that innovation with techniques that mitigate signal disruption, reduce MAC protocol requirements and extend sensor battery life in physically challenging wireless environments.
“Realizing IoT’s full potential will require dramatically driving down the cost of sensor networking,” said Cognosos Chief Technology Officer and RadioCloud inventor Jim Stratigos. “Our patented RadioCloud innovations are an important piece of that puzzle, helping enable our customers to gather real-time sensor data for operational improvements that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive.”
Cognosos has created “sensing as a service” IoT solutions since 2015. Its RadioCloud® LPWA platform represents a new paradigm in the enterprise Internet of Things (IoT), reducing the cost of reliable connectivity below competing wireless technologies while greatly expanding range. The first Cognosos managed service to incorporate RadioCloud is RadioTrax™, a fully managed, end-to-end wireless sensing solution for real-time automotive inventory tracking within dealerships, auction locations and port authorities.
